WiP

I actually planned to show just pictures of the finished versions of the following miniatures, but as my motivation is really low right now there are some pictures of the progress...

This is going to be a viking camp, made out of three sitting vikings and two standing ones. Until now I started two of the sitting ones, an axe and a shield. They shall be cast and probably also sold, so tell me your opinion! ;-)

As I don't really like neither the old model of Balin nor the new one (starter box) I decided to sculpt my own. It shall look somehow like a mix of a Khazad guard and the new film balin. Maybe it'll land in the mould as well... ^^

Was meint Ihr?

Surprisingly I painted yesterday again! As the Easterling Dragon Knight smiled in a friendly way I chose him... I wanted to try NMM but are not very pleased with it (especially not with the swords). What do you think?

To be able to sculpt quite easy more abrakhan guards, I decided to do an armatures. There will probably come another one and much more details...

Last but not least: My bandit captain. It started as my first comission work but during the process I was quite pleased so I'll let it be moulded as well. That is the reason for the flail being seperate (it actually fits quite well, it does just not lay right on the last picture). Now there are just all the details like bags and patches etc. missing.

As always I am looking forward to your comments and excuse in advance for some misspellings... ^^

In the east of Harad, where the sun burns and the wind is full of sand, there is a metropolis. In the middle of the desert it appears, like an oasis out on a limp. High walls, lots of towers, loud alleys, a town of dreams. A rich town. Abrakhân. The merchants settled down there centuries ago and built four trading roads. One for each point of the compass. In the middle was Abrakhân, centre of Harad's trading. A metropolis for import and export, for purchase and sale.

The merchants amassed riches, a lure for thiefs and other rabble. So they enlisted mercenaries, veteran warriors in dealing with their šamšir, big curved swords, normal warriors weren't able to handle whith one hand. Owing to the good payment and provisions they got loyal fighters who had advantage over others in combat.

The strongest were lifted into the position of a captain and their payment was raised as well. They were the supports of the merchants...

As announced I changed some minor things, I resculpted the right hand (although it's a bit too big again...), repositioned the left arm and extended the trousers on the right knee. Now I'm quite happy and hope for your comments...

Hello, regarding sculpting I made some progress... After being given a very cool method for making wire armatures from Bob from ebobminiatures I started right away with an older idea of mine: A completely self sculpted Abrakhân guard. This is the first miniature of mine, that is really completely self sculpted. Especially for the time I used (two days... new record ^^) quite happy apart from the left hand that is IMO much to big. I think I'll probably resculpt it.

I hope some of the details are vizible...

And a little preview to another project (no, not an army of the fiefdoms... ^^)

Berittener Mahud Hauptmann fertig / Mounted Mahud chieftain finished

So, here ist the promised text.... and new pictures. Everybody who doesn't want to hear it should leave it out.. ^^

After changing my army list for the Lotr turnament in Paderborn (not without help)I decided to take a mounted mahud chieftain. That was an ideal opportunity for me to use green stuff again. So I ordered 36" green stuff and wasted right away 3,4". The camel (that is actually a dromedar) was from a GW christmas party and missed it's leg, the riders shield and his arm.

As I had to resculpt the legs I decided to do a more dynamic pose than the standard one. I looked for a picture and discovered this one: http://camelphotos.com/GraphicsP2/camelrace3.jpg

After half a day of bending and cutting wire (and of lots of laughing) I  started sculpting the legs. As I plan to convert the foot model you can see on the first picture to the foot version of the captain, I added some details to the mounted one, like the thing around his neck or the scarf. I will add this kind of necklace soon. To make him stand out beside the normal warriors I added a back banner.

For the arm I decided to take a pretty normal position. As it is a spear that counts as a lance as well I wanted to make him look like he is going to kill an enemy.

UPDATE:

I finished the mounted version, if you don't find anything to critizise. ;-) All in all I am quite pleased with the result...

Hilfe benötig / Help needed

Hi, ohne große Worte mal ein paar Bilder meines angefangenen Umbaus eines berittenen Mahud Häuptlings. Die Worte kommen aber noch, keine Sorge... ;-)

Hi, without muc words here are some pictures of my started conversion for a mounted Mahud chieftain. The words will follow don't worry... ;-)
I'd just like to hear your opinion and suggestions for the position of his right arm. I want to give him a spear but all the ideas I've had so far are very boring... Thank you in advance!

The model istself is surely not finished at all!

And here is a fast picture of an anytime following project...
